Send a message

Type and send messages, add emoji, keep drafts, and choose what the Enter key does.

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Tap the Message box and type.
  3. Tap Send (the arrow).

While the box is empty, the button on the right is the microphone for voice messages. As soon as you type, it becomes Send.

Emoji

Tap the emoji button to the left of the box to open Emoji, GIFs and stickers. Use Search emoji to find one by name. Drag the panel up to make it bigger, or down to close it.

Drafts

If you leave a chat without sending, what you typed is kept. The chat shows Draft: in your chat list until you send or clear it.

Enter key

By default, the Enter key on your keyboard adds a new line. To make Enter send the message instead, turn on Settings > Chats > Enter is send.

If a message doesn't send

A clock beside the message means it's waiting for a connection. A red alert icon means it failed; tap it to try again. See Messages not sending.
