Create a group
Start a group chat, name it, add an icon and members, and set its permissions before you start.
On this page
- On the Chats screen, tap Send message.
- Tap New group.
- Choose participants: tap each contact you want to add. They appear at the top. Tap Next.
- On Group info:
- Type a Group name (required).
- Tap the icon to choose a Group Icon.
- Check the Participants who will be added.
- Set Disappearing messages if you want new messages to vanish after a while.
- Under Group permissions, decide what's kept to admins: Edit group settings, Send messages, Add other members and Disappearing messages. Turn a switch on to keep it to admins.
- Tap Create group.
The group opens, and everyone you added sees you created this group. As the creator, you're the group's owner and an admin.
If someone can't be added
People choose who can add them to groups in their privacy settings. If they don't allow you, Zaplog says Some of them don't allow group invites. Ask them to message you, or to change Who can add me to groups in Settings > Privacy.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can be in a group?
Zaplog doesn't publish a fixed limit. For very large audiences, consider a room in ZapRooms, which is built for communities. See Get started with ZapRooms.
Are groups encrypted?
Yes. Group messages, media and calls are end-to-end encrypted, like one-to-one chats. If some members use a very old version of Zaplog, the chat says so until they update.
