Get started with ZapRooms

ZapRooms is where communities live in Zaplog. Each room (written z/name) has posts people vote and comment on, plus text, voice and stage channels for talking in real time. Rooms are run by their own owners and moderators.

Open it from Rooms in the navigation bar.

Set up your ZapRooms profile

The first time you open ZapRooms, you Create your identity: the profile every room sees. It's separate from your chat profile.

Add a Display name (required). Letters, numbers and underscores only.
Optionally add a Profile picture, a Cover photo and a Bio.
Tap Enter ZapRooms.

Join your first rooms

Next, ZapRooms suggests rooms to join. Your home feed is built from the rooms you're in, so pick a few that sound like you; you can leave any of them later. Tap Join on each, then Enter ZapRooms.

Find your way around

Swipe right, or tap Menu, to open the rooms drawer. It holds:

Home	Your feeds: Popular and Your Rooms. See Your ZapRooms feeds.
Direct Messages	Private messages with other ZapRooms members.
Notifications	Replies, mentions, votes, follows, awards and moderation updates.
Profile	Your ZapRooms profile.
Add Room	Discover Rooms or Create Room.
Your rooms	Tap a room to see its posts and channels.

Inside a room you'll find its Posts feed, then TEXT CHANNELS, VOICE CHANNELS and Stage channels, grouped into categories.

Safety first

Rooms set their own rules on top of the Community Guidelines. Content in rooms is not end-to-end encrypted, and in public rooms it can be seen by anyone who visits. Don't post anything you wouldn't want strangers to see.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate account?

No. ZapRooms uses your Zaplog account. Only your ZapRooms profile (name, picture, bio) is separate.

Can I use ZapRooms on the web?

Yes. Rooms work on https://app.zaplog.ai, with a few features, such as stage channels and profile posts, available on phones only.
