Group calls

Start a voice or video call with a group, choose who to ring, and see who's speaking.

Group calls let up to 32 people talk together, with or without video.

Start a group call from a group

  1. Open the group chat.
  2. Tap the call icon and choose, under START A GROUP CALL:
    • Video call (Camera on for everyone), or
    • Voice call (Audio only).
  3. Choose who to ring: pick at least 2 members, or tap Select all. A call can ring at most 31 people besides you.
  4. Tap Call with the number of people.

Members already on another call are marked on a call.

Start a group call from the Calls tab

Start a call with one person, then add more people once it's connected. See Add people to a call.

In a group call

  • Everyone appears as a tile. The person Speaking is highlighted.
  • Double-tap a tile to pin that person large on your screen (Pinned to your screen). Double-tap again to unpin.
  • Tap Show participants to see everyone In this call, who has their camera on, and who raised their hand.
  • If someone's connection struggles, their tile shows Poor connection or Reconnecting….

When you're the first to arrive, Zaplog shows Waiting for others to join.

Frequently asked questions

Are group calls encrypted?

Yes, group calls are end-to-end encrypted like one-to-one calls.

Can people join without being invited?

No. People join a group call only when they're rung, either at the start or when someone adds them.
