Your birthday and gender
Why Zaplog asks for them, who can see them, and why they can only be set once.
Zaplog asks for your birthday and gender when you set up your account. Both are private and both can be set only once.
Who can see them
- Birthday: only you. It never appears on your profile or anywhere else in Zaplog. In ZapRooms, where an age rule applies, other people may see your age, never the date.
- Gender: only you. Your profile shows Private — only you can see your gender.
Why Zaplog uses them
| Detail | Used for |
|---|---|
| Birthday | Age rules: you must be 13 to use Zaplog, and 18 to create a room or join a private room. Zappy also uses it to wish you a happy birthday. |
| Gender | The energy calculation in ZapFit, and so Zappy uses the right grammatical forms in languages that need them. |
Why you can't change them
Your birthday and gender are locked once saved, which is why the setup screen shows Double-check it — this can't be changed once it's saved. This stops people changing their age to get around age rules.
