Your username is your @handle on Zaplog. People can use it to find you without knowing your phone number, and your QR code points to it.

Rules for usernames

  • Letters, numbers, periods (dots) and underscores only.
  • At least 3 characters.
  • It must not already be taken. Zaplog checks as you type and shows @name is available or Username taken.

Change your username

  1. Open Settings and tap your profile.
  2. Tap Edit Profile.
  3. Type a new Username and wait for the availability check.
  4. Tap Save changes.

Let people find you by username

Searchable username controls whether people can find you by searching for your @username.

  1. Open Settings > Privacy.
  2. Under Discovery, turn Searchable username on or off.

You can also find the switch on your profile page as Searchable Username. When you turn it on, Zaplog asks you to confirm.

When someone starts a chat with you from a username search, neither of you is shown the other's phone number. Their first message waits in Requests until you accept it. See Message requests.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a username?

Yes, every account picks one during setup. Whether people can search for it is up to you.

Can people see my phone number if they find me by username?

No. A chat that starts from a username search never reveals either person's phone number, even if one of you saves the other as a contact.
