Verification code not arriving

What to check when the 6-digit sign-in code doesn't come by SMS.

Codes are sent by SMS, and usually arrive within a minute.

Check these first

  1. The number and country. On the code screen, tap Wrong number? or Use a different number to fix it.
  2. Signal. Your phone needs mobile signal to receive SMS. Wi-Fi alone isn't enough.
  3. Your messages app. Look in your SMS inbox, including spam or filtered messages. Some phones hide messages from unknown senders.
  4. A mobile number. Codes go only to mobile numbers with a SIM or eSIM, not to landlines or internet (VoIP) numbers. See Why some numbers can't get a code.
  5. Roaming. If you're abroad, make sure your plan can receive SMS.

Ask for a new code

Wait for the countdown, then tap Didn't receive code? and Send the code again. Each number can get only a few codes in 24 hours, so don't request many in a row. See Too many codes requested.

Is the code on another phone?

If your account is signed in on another phone, Zaplog shows Check your other phone: the code appears in Zaplog on that phone, not by SMS. See Sign in on a new phone.
