Messages missing after signing in
What to do when old chats don't appear on a new phone, or the web shows only new messages.

On a new phone
- Give it time. Large histories take a while to restore. If you chose Continue in the background, messages keep arriving while you use Zaplog.
- Enter your PIN. If your account has a PIN, your history waits for it. Look for Restore your history in your chat list. See Restore your chat history.
- Check your connection. If the restore says We couldn't reach your messages just now, tap Try again.
- Was the PIN reset? Resetting a forgotten PIN deletes the protected copy of your history. Messages from before the reset can't come back.
- Deleted chats stay deleted. Messages you deleted "for me" don't come back either.
On the web
The web app needs your history key from your phone. Open Zaplog on your phone, signed in, so it can share the key with the browser.
Photos and files
Old photos and files come back as references, and download when you tap them.
