Start a chat
Message a contact, someone's @username, a new number, or someone whose QR code you scan.

Start a chat with a contact
- Open Chats and tap the round Send message button at the bottom right.
- Under Contacts on Zaplog, tap the person you want to message.
To find someone quickly, tap the search icon and type a name or number.
Other ways to start a chat
The Select contact screen also offers:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| New group | Create a group with several people. |
| New contact | Save a new number. If they're on Zaplog, you can message them straight away. |
| Search by username | Find anyone on Zaplog by their @username, without their phone number. See Chat with someone by username. |
| Scan QR Code | Scan someone's Zaplog QR code. See Share your QR code. |
If someone isn't on Zaplog
Contacts who don't use Zaplog appear under Invite to Zaplog. Tap one to send them an invitation by text message. See Invite friends to Zaplog.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see my contacts?
Zaplog needs contacts access, and your permission to look for your contacts on Zaplog. See Find your contacts on Zaplog.
Can I message someone who hasn't saved my number?
Yes. If your first contact with someone is a username search, your message arrives in their Requests until they answer. See Message requests.
