Scan a meal, label or barcode
Log food from a photo of your plate, a description, a nutrition label or a barcode, then review before logging.
On this page
The Scan tab turns photos and descriptions into food logs. Nothing is logged until you review and confirm it.
Analyze a meal photo
- Open Scan and choose Meal photo.
- Open Zaplog AI camera, use the System camera, or pick from the Gallery. A clear photo from slightly above works best; include a fork, hand or can for scale.
- Crop or rotate if needed, then Upload & analyze.
- Review what was found. Each food shows an estimate and a confidence level. Tap Review & edit to change a food or its amount, Remove it, or Add missing food.
- To fix it in words, use Correct it in your own words, for example "the bowl was twice that size" or "the chicken was grilled, not fried", then Apply correction.
- Tap Confirm and log reviewed result.
Describe a meal
Choose Describe meal, type what you ate (two eggs, one slice of sourdough, and half an avocado), and tap Analyze description. Review and confirm as above.
Scan a nutrition label
Choose Label scan and Open label camera. Fill the frame with the nutrition panel, keeping the text straight and in focus. Capture the product name and barcode too when you can.
Scan a barcode
Choose Scan a product and Open barcode camera, or type the 8–14 digits. UPC, EAN and GTIN are supported. Unknown barcodes can be entered by hand as a custom food.
Remember corrections
With Remember scan corrections on (in Profile), foods you edit before saving become custom foods, and future analyses take them into account.
Privacy
Meal and label photos are compressed and sent to Zaplog's AI for analysis privately; they're never posted publicly. Barcodes are looked up in a public food database.
