Anyone who gets a code texted to your number could sign in as you, for example after a SIM swap. An Account PIN adds a second lock: a new phone also needs the PIN before it can sign your phone out or restore your chat history.

Set up a PIN

  1. Open Settings > Account.
  2. Tap Account PIN.
  3. Tap Set up PIN.
  4. Choose a 6-digit PIN, then Enter it again to confirm.

Zaplog shows PIN saved. Zaplog can't show you your PIN later, so pick one you'll remember. Very simple PINs, like 123456, are refused with That PIN is too easy to guess.

When you'll be asked for it

  • Signing in on a new phone.
  • Restoring your chat history on a new phone.
  • Changing your phone number.

Change or turn off your PIN

  1. Open Settings > Account > Account PIN.
  2. Tap Change PIN or Turn off PIN.
  3. Confirm it's you with your fingerprint, face or screen lock.

You can manage the PIN only from the phone your account is signed in on. Turning it off means anyone with a code texted to your number will be able to sign in as you and restore your history.

Wrong PIN attempts

After several wrong PINs, Zaplog makes you wait before trying again (Too many wrong tries. Try again in a number of minutes or hours). If someone is guessing your PIN on another phone, your phone gets a Someone is guessing your PIN alert.
