A locked chat disappears from your chat list and from search. You open it with your fingerprint, face or screen lock.

Lock a chat

  1. Long-press the chat in your list (or tap its photo), then tap Lock Chat. Or open the person's or group's profile and tap Chat lock.
  2. Confirm with your fingerprint, face or screen lock.

Zaplog shows Chat locked. You need a screen lock set up on your phone to use this.

Open a locked chat

  1. Open Settings > Privacy > Locked chats, or open your profile and tap Locked Chats.
  2. Confirm it's you.
  3. Tap the chat.

Unlock a chat

Open the chat from Locked chats, open its profile, and tap Chat lock (or Unlock Chat), then confirm it's you.

Good to know

  • Notifications still arrive for a locked chat. To hide what messages say in notifications, turn off Show message previews in Settings > Notifications.
  • In Manage storage, locked chats are listed under Locked chats with their names hidden.
  • The lock is enforced on your phone. Zaplog never receives your fingerprint or face data.

To lock the whole app instead, see App lock.
