Direct messages in ZapRooms
Message other ZapRooms members privately, and control who can message you and what waits in Requests.
ZapRooms direct messages (DMs) are private conversations with other ZapRooms members. They're separate from your Zaplog chats: they use your ZapRooms profile, not your phone number.
Start a DM
Open someone's ZapRooms profile and tap Message. Your conversations are under Direct Messages in the rooms drawer.
Message requests
Depending on the other person's settings, your first message may go over as a request. You can have up to three open requests waiting at a time; ZapRooms asks you to wait for a reply first if you try a fourth.
When someone messages you for the first time, you can Accept it, Reject it (which deletes their message) or Reject & block.
Choose who can message you
Open ZapRooms settings, then Content & Social:
- Under Message requests, choose Hold every new conversation, Hold people I don't follow, or Don't hold anything. Held conversations wait in the Requests tab until you accept them.
- Allow DMs from other room members decides whether people who share a room with you can message you.
Blocked accounts can't message you at all. See Block someone in ZapRooms.
