Zaplog calls use your internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data), not your phone minutes. They're end-to-end encrypted. Calls are made and answered in the Android and iPhone apps; the web app shows your calls but can't place them.

Call from a chat

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Tap the phone icon for a voice call, or the camera icon for a video call.

Call from the Calls tab

  1. Open Chats, then the Calls tab.
  2. Tap Call (or the round new-call button).
  3. Pick a contact and choose voice or video.

You can also long-press a chat in your chat list and tap Voice call or Video call, or tap the call button next to an entry in your call history to call back.

While it's ringing

The call screen shows Calling…, then Ringing… when the other phone is ringing. If they're on another call, you'll see Busy.

If they don't answer

After a while the call stops and Zaplog shows No answer, with options to:

Permissions

Zaplog needs the microphone for every call, and the camera for video calls. If you deny the camera when calling back, Zaplog calls with voice only.

Frequently asked questions

Can I call someone who isn't on Zaplog?

Not with a Zaplog call. From the Keypad, Zaplog offers to call them with your phone carrier instead. See Use the keypad.

How much data does a call use?

Video calls use much more data than voice calls. You can see how much in Settings > Storage and data > Network usage.
