Record

  1. In a note, tap Record voice.
  2. Allow microphone access if asked.
  3. Speak. Recording keeps going with the screen off, and you can pause it.
  4. Tap Done.

The recording is added to the note (Recording added — transcribing).

The transcript

After you record, your phone transcribes the recording. Progress shows as Transcribing… with a percentage. When it's done, tap the recording to open its transcript, where you can:

  • Search the transcript.
  • Tap a line to play the recording from that moment.
  • Add to note to put the transcript into the note's text.
  • Transcribe again.

Searching your notes finds recordings by what was said.

Summarise

Tap Summarise. Zappy reads the transcript and writes what the recording was about and the points that matter. Tap Add to note to keep it. The transcript is sent to Zappy for this; the recording itself stays on your phone.

Privacy

On Android and iPhone, transcription happens on your phone, using its speech recognition. On the web, which has no on-device recognizer, tapping Transcribe sends the recording to Zaplog's speech service the first time you agree.

If transcription isn't available

Some phones don't have speech recognition; ZapNotes says Transcription isn't available on this phone. The recording is kept and you can still play it.
