You can read a voice message instead of listening to it.

Transcribe a voice message

  1. Tap Transcript in the bottom row of the voice message.
  2. Zaplog shows Transcribing… with a percentage. Tap the X (Stop transcribing) to cancel.
  3. The text appears under the message.

Long transcripts fold after a few lines; tap Read more to see all of it. Tap Hide transcript to fold it away again. Zaplog remembers transcripts you've made, so they're there next time.

Follow along

When a transcript has several parts, the part being played lights up as the message plays. Tap any part to play from that point (Play from here).

Copy, translate or save it

Long-press the voice message:

  • Copy transcript copies the text.
  • Translate translates the transcript.
  • Save to Notes saves the transcript to ZapNotes.

Privacy

Transcripts are made by your phone's own speech recognition: Android's recognizer, or Apple's speech recognition on iPhone. The transcript stays on your phone unless you send it, save it to Notes, or translate it. Translating sends the text to Zaplog's AI to translate, like any translation.

Frequently asked questions

I don't see Transcript.

Your phone needs speech recognition. If it isn't available, the option doesn't appear. Transcripts also need the voice message to be downloaded.

The transcript is wrong or empty.

Speech recognition works best with clear speech and little background noise. If nothing could be made out, Zaplog says so. You can try again later.
